Payton Vorpahl, age 20, of Random Lake, is the daughter of Marty and Tera Vorpahl. She is a graduate of Oostburg High School and recently completed her junior year at University of Wisconsin–River Falls, where she is studying Animal Science with a minor in Agricultural Business.
During college, Payton has been actively involved in campus and agricultural organizations, including the Pre-Veterinary Club, Falcon 4-H Club, and the dairy and meat judging teams. Following graduation, she hopes to work within the agricultural industry in Sheboygan County while also serving as a leader in a local 4-H club.
In her free time, Payton enjoys raising cattle and rabbits, playing and coaching volleyball, painting and drawing, and volunteering at the Humane Society.
Payton believes enthusiasm, passion, and strong communication skills are essential qualities for someone serving as Fairest of the Fair.
“The Fairest is constantly engaging with people of all ages, and bringing energy and enthusiasm to those interactions helps create excitement and pride in the fair. A positive attitude and a smile can make a lasting impression and encourage others to take part in the fair’s traditions.
It is also important for the Fairest to have a genuine passion for and knowledge of the Sheboygan County Fair. Understanding the fair’s culture allows her to authentically connect with exhibitors, visitors, and sponsors while sharing why the fair is such an important part of our community.
Strong communication skills ensure the Fairest can effectively promote the fair—whether speaking to a crowd, engaging on social media, or interacting one-on-one with fairgoers. By combining these qualities, the Fairest can help share the traditions and sense of community that make our fair so special.” shares Vorpahl.
