Plymouth, WI — As the Sheboygan County Fair prepares to celebrate its 175th anniversary in 2026, the Sheboygan County Fair Association is highlighting the community support that has sustained the fair since 1851.
A common misconception is that county fairs are funded through county tax dollars. However, the Sheboygan County Fair is not owned or operated by Sheboygan County and does not receive county funding. The fair is operated by the Sheboygan County Fair Association, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, and is supported through sponsorships, admissions, exhibitors, vendors, volunteers, donations, and community partnerships.
“Many people are surprised to learn that the fair does not receive funding from county taxes,” said the Fair Board. “The Sheboygan County Fair exists because of the incredible support we receive from our community, sponsors, exhibitors, volunteers, and fairgoers.”
Community support directly funds improvements across the fairgrounds. Recent projects include the installation of new grandstand railings ahead of the 2026 racing season and upgrades to the cattle barn, including relocated piping and additional accessible water faucets for exhibitors.
These investments help improve safety, accessibility, and the long-term sustainability of the fairgrounds.
In addition to providing family-friendly entertainment, the fair continues to support youth development through local 4-H and FFA programs while offering educational exhibits, agricultural experiences, and volunteer opportunities for all ages.
As operating costs continue to rise, including insurance, utilities, maintenance, and entertainment expenses, sponsorship support has become more important than ever. Sponsorships help fund facility improvements, support youth programming, bring quality entertainment to the fair, and help keep admission and parking affordable for families.
“Every sponsorship and partnership helps strengthen the future of the fair,” the Fair Board said. “These contributions are reinvested into the fairgrounds, youth programs, and the overall experience for our visitors.”
The Sheboygan County Fair offers sponsorship opportunities starting at $200 community sponsorships to larger partnership packages. Every contribution helps preserve a local tradition that has served generations of families for 175 years.
The 175th Sheboygan County Fair will take place Labor Day Weekend, September 3rd to 7th, 2026, in Plymouth, Wisconsin. For sponsorship opportunities or more information, visit: https://shebcofair.com/sponsors/
